Faridabad: The cyber crime police station arrested six members of an inter-state gang accused of running fake customer-care numbers that tricked customers into sharing OTPs.
Police recovered 42 SIM cards, 18 mobile phones and laptops containing cloned banking apps. Investigators traced complaints from 14 states.
Citizens are advised never to share OTPs and to verify helpline numbers only from official websites or passbooks.
